Arts Programs

Evidence-based arts programs are vital tools in patient-focused care. The arts are a welcome distraction for patients and families. The Aesthetics approach encourages use of art that is integral to and reinforces the wayfinding and interior design systems. Interior Design

Our interior design team transforms environments by combining interior design elements, art and multisensory experiences to incorporate harmony and beauty and enhance the healing process. Innovative and carefully researched uses of color, light, sound, aroma, and space are integral parts of our design approach. Custom interior treatments and appropriate furnishings, finishes and space planning accomplish the hospitality look and feel that are important in today’s healthcare environment. Working in collaboration with the wayfinding team, destinations are given a design treatment that works in concert with the wayfinding system. Landmarks are placed in the corridor system and a hierarchy of paths is established. Finishes, colors, artwork, lighting, and sound are integrated elements that reinforce the harmonius healing environment.

Planetree Palette Service

With a strong understanding of Planetree’s patient-centered focus and its importance in the healthcare environment, we have developed a quick and simple service that helps a facility launch its Planetree Journey.  In the physical environment, our customized Planetree Palette assembles a gallery of colors, materials, and furnishings that form the groundwork for a look and feel consistent with and supportive of the Planetree Elements.

Wayfinding Programs

Aesthetics, Inc. employs a multidisciplinary, systems-based approach to wayfinding design. The first step in this process is a comprehensive assessment that begins with mapping the patient’s or visitor’s journey and experience, comprising a comprehensive analysis of the campus from the first-time customer’s point-of-view. Using this systems approach, we look at information, operations, and facility design to see how they work together to support or conflict with each other to deter optimal performance.

Patient-Focused and Family-Focused Design

Our system for healthcare environments begins with patient-focused and family-focused design principles. We believe that positive human experience of the built environment is a critical factor in helping patients, visitors and staff attain successful healing process outcomes. Usingr proven methods, we look at an organization holistically and assist in integrating its mission, values, goals and purposes into the physical environment.

Assessment and Design Leadership

Our design leaders look holistically at a hospital campus from the point-of-view of the patient and visitor, and how staff experience it. We help guide an organization’s project team through an interactive, exploratory process to gain a common understanding the facility's history, current master plan, marketing plans, vision, mission, values and culture. We assist the organization in creating and maintaining partnerships among facilities personnel, architects, interior designers, fabricators and installers.

Chapels and Sacred Spaces

Our healthcare interiors team designs sacred spaces that serve as places of worship and quiet reflection, and promote the healing experience for patients, staff, and visitors. Chapels may be designed in a particular religious tradition and still easily transformed into an ecumenical place of worship that addresses the diversity of the community it serves. Works of art are integrated into the architectural design, thereby enhancing the organic, harmonious, and sacred ambiance.

Children’s Projects

Children’s environments are designed with a focus on the special requirements of young patients, to promote healing, nurture young people’s minds, bodies and spirits, provide home-like comfort, and foster a sense of delight.

Healing Gardens

Healing gardens provide a tranquil and contemplative environment with inspirational architectural features such as fountains, seating areas and commissioned artwork.

Healing Sound and Music

Studies have shown that acoustic environments can affect how we feel and how we work, and help balance the body’s health and well-being. Appropriate auditory environments creates positive mental, emotional and physical experiences and impressions. Our sister company, Aesthetic Audio Systems, Inc., introduces Harmonic HealthCare™ auditory environments (uniquely created ambient, jazz and classical music) in healthcare public spaces to enhance and reinforce the healing experience for patients, visitors, caregivers and staff.

Rejuvenating Spaces

Employees working in high-stress environments and jobs can benefit from taking short periods of time away to regenerate and create a balanced physical, mental and emotional state. Aesthetics, Inc. designs multisensory healing places that provide an environment and stimuli to help relax and rejuvenate employees. These rejuvenating spaces provide a meansto care for the caregiver that promote a release from stress-related activities. The individual can regenerate, while reflecting on the uniqueness and complexity of the interaction of the physical body, the emotional self and the spiritual self. Afterward, the individual is then able to proceed with the day’s tasks in a balanced state with increased energy and alertness.
