Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital
Palo Alto, CA
Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is a world-class, non-profit hospital on the campus of Stanford University. It is listed as one of the ten best Children’s Hospitals in the country by U.S. News & World Report.
Aesthetics, Inc. is completing an art master plan for their new expansion, which will double the hospital campus size. Running concurrent with the architecture team’s design development and construction document phases, the art master plan process is being used to integrate future featured art into the emerging design of the building. The building will open in 2016.
Both the building and its artwork are being designed to feature ecological themes around man’s relationship with nature. Mosaic and terrazzo flooring, sculpture, paintings, digital display and garden art features are being defined and located throughout the project.
Over the past year, there has been extensive cooperation and coordination with the architects (Perkins + Will) and landscape architects (AECOM) to achieve integration of arts into their design.
