Faith-Based Art Reflects Core Values
Aesthetics was hired to assist Glendale Adventist Medical Center (GAMC) on their largest venture – the new Campus Expansion Project. At the center of the campus project is the new West Tower, offering seven stories for expanded patient care, including a larger emergency department, spacious surgery suites, private patient rooms, a new cardiovascular center and an intensive care unit.
In developing this new tower, the leadership at GAMC decided, in concert with its community, to develop a healing arts program to enhance the new environment and celebrate the faith and community it serves. The implementation of this vision was difficult.
To support them in accomplishing this goal, they engaged the services of Aesthetics to provide the tools and the steps in developing a quality art program policy, and then apply this policy to the inclusion of art in their new expansion.
Having a dedicated committee, who sets the mission, goals, policies and procedures, set the foundation for decision-making on the important art program. The floors were given faith-based themes. Each theme was given a visual definition that supported the work in the clinical areas.
